Dr Saeed Talebi

Dr Saeed Talebi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at Birmingham City University. His work focuses on how the built environment, particularly housing and critical infrastructure, can deliver measurable social value, community wellbeing and pride in place through smart technologies and circular economy principles, closely aligned with the University’s Strategy 2030 and its focus on inclusive growth, civic impact and responsible innovation.

He has led or contributed to more than £25 million of UK and international research, innovation and policy-facing programmes, working with local authorities, infrastructure owners, central government stakeholders and private-sector organisations across the UK and EU. The overarching aim of this work is to ensure that public and private investment delivers long-term outcomes for communities, including health, sustainability, skills, inclusion and local economic resilience, rather than short-term outputs alone.

Saeed works with a wide range of UK companies across construction, infrastructure, energy, housing and technology, supporting the translation of complex technical innovation into practical frameworks that can be used by decision-makers, investors and delivery teams. His expertise includes smart building and infrastructure technologies, data-driven performance measurement and circular economy approaches to support more accountable, transparent and community-focused development.
