Colan Mehaffey

Colan Mehaffey serves as the Strategic Director for Policy, Impact & Partnerships at Cardiff Capital Region (CCR), leading on regional economic, spatial planning, and transport policy. He has helped establish CCR as a new regional public body (Corporate Joint Committee), which is a partnership of the ten local authorities of South East Wales. Colan led the development of the Regional Economic & Industrial Strategy, with a focus on delivering productivity, inclusivity and sustainability gains through impact investment, ensuring that CCR’s funds deliver benefits for the region’s citizens.  

Colan has an extensive portfolio of experience, ranging from regional and organisational policy & strategy development to leadership of major programmes. He has worked across a variety of sectors, and prior to relocating to South Wales, Colan was a key figure in the £600m Data-Driven Innovation City Deal initiative for Edinburgh & South East Scotland.
